everyone wakes up the next morning. to galloping hooves. havi & tanum are in the same bed. philip runs to the window and shouts for everyone to get up.<\/p>\n
hoaquin runs downstairs and finds philip with one arm around meekus, and two other men joaquin has never seen before. one man is an elegant & groomed elf. the other is wearing all black, with a black hood, and a face mask.<\/p>\n
meekus: joaquin! i\u2019m glad the group has stayed together<\/p>\n
meekus: there are a couple things i need to talk to you about<\/p>\n
meekus: unfortunately i need to get going, but this man is philip\u2019s right and true mentor, and i need you to make sure the two of them have time to train every day.<\/p>\n
meekus: and this is his private bard.<\/p>\n
meekus motions to areli. (shad\u2019s new character!)<\/p>\n
meekus goes inside to find the other. he approaches tanum.<\/p>\n
meekus: you\u2019ve never been a mage<\/p>\n
meekus: and you\u2019re never going to be.<\/p>\n
and he leaves. havi notices that it pained meekus to say that. but he also knows that it\u2019s true. havi runs after him.<\/p>\n
havi: meekus?<\/p>\n
meekus: yeah?<\/p>\n
havi: what was that.<\/p>\n
meekus: that was the truth.<\/p>\n
havi: you can\u2019t just … crush his hopes like that<\/p>\n
meekus: *takes havi\u2019s hand* if it was up to me, that was not how it would have been done<\/p>\n
meekus: but i had my orders<\/p>\n
and he leaves again. joaquin sees meekus walk back to the stables, hop onto a deer, and gallop off.<\/p>\n
the dark figure gives areli a list of songs to play every day and never speaks to him.<\/p>\n
philip is charmed that he got to see meekus again. havi goes to console tanum. he\u2019s sitting on the top bunk bed curled around his own legs. havi climbs up and puts his hand around his shoulder. tanum starts to cry. havi doesn\u2019t know what to do. tanum cries more, but he\u2019s leaning into havi\u2019s presence.<\/p>\n
havi: hey it\u2019s okay, he doesn\u2019t know what he\u2019s talking about<\/p>\n
tanum: it\u2019s not okay!!!<\/p>\n
tanum: i just got! a spirit! a god! told me! that i\u2019m not, that my dream, is never gonna happen!<\/p>\n
havi: that\u2019s not quite what he said<\/p>\n
tanum: he said he<\/p>\n
havi: he\u2019s a god, maybe he was being cryptic!!!<\/p>\n
tanum: did he SOUND like he was giving a riddle???<\/p>\n
havi: not really<\/p>\n
tanum: *grumpily* i\u2019m gonna go make breakfast<\/p>\n
havi: do you want me to help you<\/p>\n
tanum: no.<\/p>\n
havi: i\u2019m gonna help you.<\/p>\n
tanum: fine<\/p>\n
havi & tanum try to make breakfast, but tanum keeps getting really frustrated at the eggs and runs off. havi follows him and they take a walk together.<\/p>\n
eventually they all sit down for breakfast. philip asks joaquin what they should do next.<\/p>\n
areli: what\u2019s his deal<\/p>\n
philip: joaquin? what do you mean<\/p>\n
areli: he just takes a while to warm up! you two will get along<\/p>\n
philip tells areli he likes music about magic and mages and that he should play a song. areli does.<\/p>\n
tanum and havi come back. tanum is curious who the masked figure is. philip explains its his new mentor that meekus dropped off, and this is his personal bard. havi laughs.<\/p>\n
joaquin gets back. he looks at the situation he doesn\u2019t want to engage in and goes upstairs.<\/p>\n
tanum: so havi<\/p>\n
tanum: it\u2019s\u2014 never mind<\/p>\n
havi: what?<\/p>\n
tanum: don\u2019t, no\u2014 i\u2019m brooding<\/p>\n
havi: if you want to talk we can talk.<\/p>\n
tanum: no, it\u2019s just\u2014 meekus shows up and tells me i\u2019m not a mage and then drops off philip\u2019s mage mentor<\/p>\n
havi: we don\u2019t know anything about him, it was probably a coincidence that … he dropped off … another mage?<\/p>\n
32:00<\/p>\n
havi: we could go search for another one of those stones. two down, one to go?<\/p>\n
tanum: i mean, that\u2019s a way of looking at it … but we don\u2019t even know if it\u2019ll help<\/p>\n
habi: we didn\u2019t know if it was gonna help before? with the other issues? and it did!<\/p>\n
tanum: he said i would NEVER BE A MAGE<\/p>\n
tanum stands up and slams his hands on the table before running off. havi notices charred handprints on the table.<\/p>\n
areli asks havi what the hell just happened.<\/p>\n
areli: what is GOING on.<\/p>\n
havi: he\u2019s having a bit of a tantrum.<\/p>\n
joaquin asks philip what he wants to do next. he says he has to train with his new mentor. joaquin brings up that clint wants him to visit home, but he\u2019s unsure if he wants to go or if anyone else would want to come with. philip says he would want to come with! if it\u2019s okay.<\/p>\n
joaquin: i\u2019d be the problem here<\/p>\n
philip:<\/p>\n
philip: i have a silent magic mentor<\/p>\n
philip asks the others if they want to go to litor. they say sure?<\/p>\n
havi finds tanum again. he\u2019s sitting in the room by the window. havi leans against the doorframe. 40:00<\/p>\n
havi: you\u2019re probably going to have to cough up a few coins to the owners of the inn<\/p>\n
tanum: no it\u2019s fine i\u2019ve been working as their cook.<\/p>\n
havi: because you burnt their table.<\/p>\n
tanum: what? no, all the pans that i used i left in the kitchen<\/p>\n
havi walks up to tanum and grabs his hands.<\/p>\n
havi: you burnt the table when you hit it.<\/p>\n
tanum: that doesn\u2019t make any sense<\/p>\n
havi: you got ALL angry at me and you burnt the table.<\/p>\n
havi: you\u2019ve GOT magic in you<\/p>\n
havi: it\u2019s THERE we\u2019ve just got to figure out how to harness it<\/p>\n
tanum: OKAY SO MAYBE I HAVE! magic! that doesn\u2019t mean i can use it!<\/p>\n
havi: you just did!<\/p>\n
tanum: havi … we both know that we have magic; i might have more magic than you<\/p>\n
thst doesn\u2019t change the fact that you\u2019re always gonna be … the useful one<\/p>\n
tanum: because you can use it<\/p>\n
tanum: i just hope<\/p>\n
tanum: i just hope that this doesn\u2019t change things? between us?<\/p>\n
havi: not for the worst, no<\/p>\n
tanum: thanks<\/p>\n
havi kisses tanum on the cheek again – there are no sparkles this time.<\/p>\n
areli plays music downstairs.<\/p>\n
[ben]: you have to admit, he plays some mean chords<\/p>\n
[shad]: corns?????<\/p>\n
[everyone]: *cries about the word corns for like a minute*<\/p>\n
ireth finally comes downstairs. she asks joaquin who the masked figure is. philip asks joaquin what areli\u2019s name is. he\u2019s been talking with him the whole time and never learned his name.<\/p>\n
philip: i forgot his name<\/p>\n
ireth: if it makes you feel better, i never learned his name so i could just ask for you<\/p>\n
philip: i thought you were gonna say that you never learned my name<\/p>\n
philip: and i was going to say that was rude because you were in my body<\/p>\n
ireth greets areli. she questions how the hooded figure is going to train philip if he doesn\u2019t speak.<\/p>\n
ireth & areli have an arm wrestling fight in the middle of the inn??? areli rolls a -1 strength check.<\/p>\n
the group heads to litor. philip has been training with the figure. it\u2019s been stressing him out, but he says it\u2019s what he needs to do. joaquin asks if the hooded figure is going to kill us in our sleep. philip says no.<\/p>\n
its cold out. ireth considers buying a coat.<\/p>\n
as they approach the city, the marble walls and gates split up the horizon. joaquin\u2019s hair is blond from caranthir\u2019s ring.<\/p>\n
ireth buys a cloak with a bear head on it. joaquin approaches havi.<\/p>\n
joaquin: did you want to stop at your home? visit your family?<\/p>\n
havi: oh! no, no that\u2019s fine<\/p>\n
joaquin: hhgh<\/p>\n
havi: we\u2019re here for you<\/i><\/p>\n
joaquin: hhhrrrrrrgh<\/p>\n
someome shouts halt! a group of people on horseback canter to a stop. joaquin hides. a young woman hops off her horse. she walks up to the group<\/p>\n
???: i saw a young man and i thought i recognized him<\/p>\n
???: so any of you know a young man named cassidy calloway<\/p>\n
similan: i\u2019m her friend similan!<\/p>\n
similan says if we run into someone named cassidy, we should tell him asks is the daughter in the highest class district of the city.<\/p>\n

areli is snippy towards tanum, who smacks areli\u2019s horse and causes it to run away.\u00a0joaquin is generally stressed out.<\/p>\n
joaquin; how much do you guys know about the government here<\/p>\n
ireth: nothing<\/p>\n
joaquin: you guys know clint, he\u2019s important. he\u2019s my brother. so<\/p>\n
joaquin: my family is … important, i guess<\/p>\n
ireth: how important?<\/p>\n
joaquin takes his hair color-changing ring.<\/p>\n
joaquin: there are twelve families that rule the government in litor … my family is one of them<\/p>\n
ireth: why did you leave???<\/p>\n
joaquin: i did something i have regretted every day since leaving<\/p>\n
tanum: WE\u2019VE ALL BEEN THERE! does your family still want you back?<\/p>\n
joaquin: i don\u2019t know<\/p>\n
havi: if you don\u2019t wanna\u2014 we don\u2019t have to talk about it<\/p>\n
ireth: i want to talk about it<\/p>\n
joaquin: a guy had a gun pointed at my father – i tried to stop him, and he fell off the wall he was standing on and died.<\/p>\n
joaquin: i left\u2014 they were dressed like a guard, i didn\u2019t have a chance to explain it, so i left<\/p>\n
tanum: so it looks like you killed a guard and then vamoosed!<\/p>\n
areli returns on horseback. he holds his hand out for tanum to give his belt back.<\/p>\n
tanum asks joaquin what he wants to do! if he wants to tell them he\u2019s back one by one or all at once. tanum asks if joaquin knows they\u2019re all still alive. it\u2019s super ominous.<\/p>\n
ireth: dont. joke about that.<\/p>\n
tanum: i wasn\u2019t JOKING<\/p>\n
ireth: you don\u2019t even understand what that feels like.<\/p>\n
tanum: are you saying i don\u2019t understand life or death?<\/p>\n
tanum: i have LITERALLY died, TWICE<\/p>\n
havi notices tanum is feeling pretty irked.<\/p>\n
they reach the calloway estate. it\u2019s near a bakery.<\/p>\n
cameron stops and looks at joaquin.<\/p>\n
cameron: someone save me i\u2019m SWOONING~<\/p>\n
cameron: my BROTHER\u2019S HOME~<\/p>\n
cameron: IT\u2019S CASSIDY COME LOOK~<\/p>\n
joaquin:<\/p>\n
cameron: OH EVERYONE HE\u2019S SPEECHLESS HE DOESN\u2019T KNOW WHAT TO SAY~<\/p>\n
cameron: *suddenly looks serious* where have you been.<\/p>\n
joaquin: i\u2019m sorry.<\/p>\n
cameron: i\u2019m glad you\u2019re back. but you ARE gonna have to talk to mom.<\/p>\n
cameron: she\u2019s in the study.\u00a0dad is out on a patrol, he\u2019ll\u00a0be back pretty soon<\/p>\n
cameron: do you want me to come with?<\/p>\n
cameron: cuz i\u2019m not gonna!!!<\/p>\n
joaquin approaches the study to confront his mom. she\u2019s working st her desk and feeezes when she sees him<\/p>\n
caterina: what are you waiting\u2014<\/p>\n
caterina:<\/p>\n
caterina: *walks around her desk and hugs him*<\/p>\n
joaquin: *crying*<\/p>\n
caterina: are you staying?<\/p>\n
joaquin:<\/p>\n
cameron: do you know?<\/p>\n
joaquin:<\/p>\n
caterina: how many times have i told you to at least give an answer one way or another.<\/p>\n
caterina: it\u2019s ok if you don\u2019t know, but don\u2019t give me this \u201cah, uh, um\u201d<\/p>\n
caterina: you\u2019re a leader, cassidy.<\/p>\n
she says we\u2019re welcome\u00a0to stay with them. ireth gives joaquin a hug. he goes to visit his dad.<\/p>\n
calhoun is outside at the stable. he sees joaquin, unstraps his armor, leans into the stable, and he tosses joaquin a wooden practice sword.<\/p>\n
calhoun: en guard!<\/p>\n
joaquin tears up. calhoun waits. they spar for a bit.<\/p>\n
eventuallt they all have dinner<\/p>\n
calhoun asks if the group has had to hold their own in a fight. we\u2019re confidently say yes. calhoun asks if we have any stories to tell. ireth says he killed a demi-god. areli is also shocked.<\/p>\n
calhoun explains they\u2019ve been looking for a group not affiliated with litor to carry out some missions. but before that, there\u2019s an important council meeting that night that calhoun wants joaquin to attend. he agrees.<\/p>\n
we find out they\u2019re voting tonight on whether or not litor goes to war with quarmar.<\/p>\n
at the council meeting, the 12 families vote on whether or not to go to war. havi notices arnam, a childhood friend of his, is representing one of the voting families and votes to go to war.<\/p>\n
after the meeting, calhoun explains they\u2019ve been experimenting with sending out small groups of highly trained individuals to complete tasks. joaquin says he willing to help in any way he can.<\/p>\n
calhoun has hand-picked people we can utelie if we need their special skills.<\/p>\n
shadrack: oldest brother, psychometabolism psionic discipline – can use his energy to augment his body – protective toward his younger brothers, tries to stay distant from others<\/p>\n
meishack: middle brother, psychoportation psionic discipline<\/p>\n
abendigo, youngest – clairsentience psionic, can see the future but it\u2019s not cut and dry. quiet and not good at talking to people because he often times gets visions of when and how they will die.<\/p>\n
paulette sanderfoot – 19, smart, explosions expert. her ship was attacked by pirates once.<\/p>\n
curtis sarko – swordsman, duelist expert.<\/p>\n
our first mission is to locate a quarmar weapons cache and ensure none of them are fit for combat.<\/p>\n
areli asks the masked figure if he has to help out with the war. he suddenly sits down.<\/p>\n
havi: are we going … to do … it<\/p>\n
ireth: have sex???<\/p>\n
tanum: 2:21:00<\/p>\n
joaquin goes to talk to clint, who\u2019s outside wailing on a practice dummy with a sword. they talk about how clint was drafted into the silver hand, a military group with unique skillsets that are sent out on missions.<\/p>\n
joaquin: so how\u2019d you know meekus<\/p>\n
clint: i met him … years ago<\/p>\n
clint leads joaquin up to the roof and tells him the story of what happened to him in qdndos (will link to later). joaquin is emo.<\/p>\n
havi mentions meeting arnam to tanum (quote later)<\/p>\n
